Kolkata: The Indian men’s senior national team is set to play in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers against hosts Qatar on Thursday at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.
After the first match, India will take on Bangladesh (June 7) and Afghanistan (June 15) with qualification for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 also at stake.
The matches are being played in a central venue due to the pandemic situation forcing the home and away format to be abandoned.
Head coach Igor Stimac has named a 28-member Indian squad that is currently training in Doha, with the team having landed in the city on May 20, 2021.
India are currently on 3 points from 5 matches in Group E.
