India, Venezuela strengthen bilateral ties

India and Venezuela on Thursday discussed the steps to strengthen their bilateral ties in a score of sectors that include agriculture, trade and investment.

Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj held discussion with her Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza.

She is in Baku to attend the NAM Ministerial Meeting.

“EAM @SushmaSwaraj met with Foreign Minister of Venezuela Jorge Arreaza on the sidelines of #NAM Ministerial Meeting in Baku. Exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations, especially in trade & investment, agriculture, pharma and people-to-people ties,” Raveesh Kumar, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson said in a tweet.

Last month, Arreaza had advocated for “stronger relations” with New Delhi, saying that he learnt the values of “shanti” (peace), “prem” (love) and “ahimsa” (non-violence) many years ago when he came to India as a backpacker.
