New Delhi: India’s contagion tally on Wednesday surged to 58,5493, after witnessing a sharp spike of 18,663 cases in the past 24 hours.
According to the health ministry, after 507 more people were lost to the pandemic, the country’s death toll has mounted to 17,400.
However, with a constant betterment in the rate of recovery, cured and discharged cases now stand at 3,47,979 pan India and the number is 1,27,865 more as compared to the present cases under active medical supervision across the country at 2,20,114.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, 86,26,585 samples have so far been tested for Covid-19 till Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the country begins with the second phase of unlocking by the central government wherein further relaxations have been given outside the containment zones.
However, services like metro rail, international flights and gatherings, cinema halls, gymnasiums, schools, colleges and others will continue to remain suspended.
