New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 death toll on Monday crossed 50,000-mark as 941 more patient died from the virus, Union Health Ministry said in it’s latest update.
In terms of deaths, only three countries–United States, Brazil and Mexico–are ahead of India.
As many as 57,981 fresh COVID-19 cases were recorded in the past 24 hrs, taking the total number of cases to 26,47,663. The total number deaths rose to 50,921 while the fatality rate is 1.92 per cent.
On a positive note, the number of recoveries reached 72.51 in percentage and 19,19,842 in numbers, which includes 57,584 fresh ones.
The active cases now stands at 6,76,900, the ministry said.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research, 7,31,697 samples were tested in past 24 hours, bringing the total tests conducted so far to 3,00,41,400.
