India’s Ministry of Defence website hacked
In what could be called as a major cyber threat, the Ministry of Defence’s website on Friday appeared to be hacked.
The website – https://mod.gov.in/ – was showing error, even as characters in Mandarin appeared on it.
The home page of the website takes a long time and then leads to an error page.
However, action has been initiated.
In a tweet, the Ministry of Defence said, “Action is initiated after the hacking of MoD website ( mod.nic.in ). The website shall be restored shortly. Needless to say, every possible step required to prevent any such eventuality in the future will be taken. @DefenceMinIndia @PIB_India @PIBHindi.”
Last year, the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs was also hacked. The MHA, however, denied any hacking, saying it was “down for repair”.
