Political crisis has gripped Goa as Nationalist Congress Party Supremo Sharad Pawar directed Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to induct Mickky Pacheco as a minister.
The Chief Minister given Mickky’s past behavior as a minister and the fact that some of his ministerial colleagues have been antagonized by Mickky is in a dilemma.
It may be recalled that the Alemao brothers alongwith Babush Monserrate and Babu Azgaonkar have vehemently opposed Mickky’s return to the Cabinet.
Although the official reason cited is the fact that Mickky is embroiled in controversies regarding his friend Nadia Torrado’s death, money laundering and immigration violation, the actual reason is the personal animosity kindled by Mickky’s brag behavior.
Sharad Pawar has reportedly called up the Congress bluff of dissolving the house and going for fresh polls given the fact that the Congress party in Goa is not ready to face the people against the backdrop of peoples’ discontent over various issues.
Besides, Mickky Pacheco has taken it as a personal mission to defeat the Congress candidates in at least four of the 8 constituencies in Salcete.
The Chief Minister is now awaiting instructions from his party’s high command that has been informed about the cons of inducting Mickky in the Cabinet not only by Digambar Kamat himself but also by senior Congress leaders including Churchill Alemao who is leading the movement to block Mickky’s re-induction as minister.
