New Delhi, Aug 27 (GCCurrentAffairs) The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted relief till tomorrow to former Finance Minister P Chidambaram who has challenged the extension of remand by Central Bureau of Investigation and protection from arrest by Enforcement Directorate in connection with the INX Media case arising out of alleged irregularities in clearances by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board during his watch.
A bench, headed by Justice R Banumathi and also comprising Justice A S Bopanna, ruled, ‘ We will hear he matter tomorrow and the ED cannot arrest him till then.
“We will hear the matter tomorrow at 2pm. We will hear the arguments and submissions from the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in the INX media case tomorrow,” the bench said.
The Supreme Court clarified that interim protection from arrest by ED would continue for P Chidambaram till tomorrow.
