Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) World’s most popular and expensive cricket league, Indian Premier League (IPL) brand value has touched 6.3 billion dollar.
According to Global advisor company Duff & Phelps’ annual study of the IPL suggest an increase in the overall value of the from 5.3 billion dollar in 2017 to 6.3 billion dollar in 2018.
The three time IPL champion Mumbai Indians brand value has increased by 7 per cent from 106 million dollar to 113 million dollar. Mumbai Indians continue to top the charts for the third time.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan Kolkata Knight Riders are in second place with a brand value of 104 million dollar.
The two-year ban imposed on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals has had some bearing on their brand values.
However, CSK’s on-field performance and the Dhoni factor helped them to neutralize the negative impact, as they were valued at 98 million dollar alongside Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals follow in the brand rankings.
Varun Gupta, Managing Director, Duff & Phelps said, “Star India which has broadcasting rights deal with the IPL, the league’s brand value has increased and based on per match fees has come at par with the biggest sporting leagues in the world.”
