Though not officially declared as yet; sources in the Congress camp both in Goa and Delhi have indicated that there is a strong chance of Revenue Minister Jose Philip D’ Souza joining hands with the Congress party in the months to come.
In the not so recent past the rift between Micky Pacheco and Jose Philip has further intensified the revenue minister’s intent to move to a party where petty rivalry does not overshadow the overall agenda of the party. More importantly the NCP’s diplomatic stance on the Micky issue and lack of support at the recent municipal elections has left a bitter taste for the revenue minister.
When contacted however Jose Philip Desouza denied these supposed malicious rumors, “I am very happy being associated with NCP, my resignation from the party leader’s post on certain issues of principle doesn’t mean that I have an intention to jump ship. I will continue to work for NCP in the months to come.”
First with the ouster of Micky and then the roping in of Vishwajit Rane and Babush Monseratte into the Congress camp, Jose Philip’s supposed move to the Congress Party will only continue to strengthen the Congress’ political hold in Goa.
With Micky’s request to get his ministerial berth back not being addressed owing to the numerous allegations against him, due to which he will quit the NCP party and Jose Philip’s supposed dalliance with Congress party members will certainly jeopardize the NCP chances in Goa as they will have no able leader in sight.
Whether or not Jose Philip D’Souza joins Congress it will be revealed in the months to come.
