Puducherry, Feb 13 (GCCurrentAffairs) Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi on Thursday said that it is a daily challenge to keep the government run on track of financial prudence, due diligence, maintaining and enforcing, preventing debt traps, rowdyism and land grabs, indecision in loss making public sector undertakings and among others.
Reacting to reports appeared in newspapers this morning about Raj Nivas and herself, the Lt. Governor said “what is being attributed to the office of the Lt.governor in general and me in particular almost daily is no surprise and only the vocabulary and choice of words change’.
She said the relaxation of rules is easy and shall get more friends, but is very harmful in the long run and added that it may have short term gains but will bear legal consequences later for successor to bear with.
The financial audit objection and violation of laws and rules follow public servants long after they leave their assignment and even retires as they remain pensioners.
Civil service Officers are appointed for ensuring professional rule based advises and accountability as they are in long term service of the country, Ms Bedi said, adding that appointed administrators like her are not here for easy ways out of narrow interests. But for largest good while abiding by due process and functioning with accessibility and transparency.
However, civility in utterance and correctness in facts publically stated by those occupying public space would help in making citizens in Puducherry more aware and participative to correct serious deficiencies being encountered, she added.
