New Delhi, Dec 21 (GCCurrentAffairs) Students of Jamia Millia Islamia University held a peaceful protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Saturday.
Today’s was the seventh day of protest and was held outside the main gate of the university.
Four students, who were detained during a protest in Chanakyapuri during the day, were released, sources said.
Police have arrested 15 people involved in Friday’s violence in Daryaganj, here. A local court on Saturday sent them to two days of judicial custody.
According to Delhi Police, the accused have been charged with rioting and using force to deter policemen from doing duty.
It further said that the protestors had set ablaze a private car parked at Subhash Marg area on Friday evening.
In another development, the Press Club of India and the Indian Women Press Corps (IWPC) on Saturday strongly condemned what they called “police brutality and use of force” against media persons in different parts of the country while they were discharging their journalistic duties during the coverage of the ongoing protests against CAA/NRC.
On Saturday, Delhi Metro services were normal on its entire network.
