Consul-General of Japan Ryoji Noda on Thursday called on Menino D’souza, Director, Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, where they discussed a wide range of issues to boost tourism ties between the two regions.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed on various initiatives that could be taken up for the development of tourism.
Tourists from Japan have been visiting Goa and availing of electronic tourist visa facility through Goa international airport at Dabolim. Similarly statistics show that around 250 tourist from Japan visit the state annually.
D’souza expressed Goa Tourism’s desire to increase footfalls from Japan to Goa in as much as there was outbound footfalls to Japan from Goa.
The Consul-General was delighted to learn that the JCI World Congress 2018 which would be held in Goa in November would host around 1,200 delegates from Japan out of the 4,000 international delegates that would attend the conference
The Consul-General also expressed his delight being in Goa and experiencing the hospitality extended to him during his short visit to the state.
Also present for the meeting were Ayako Ueno, Researcher / Adviser, Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai and Rajendra K Sharma , Chief Executive (Political and General Affairs) Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai.
