JD (U) demand Govt acts on Shah Commission report on illegal mining

Being one of the few national parties to take-up the illegal mining issue in state, though not forcefully and with little impact, JD (U) has demanded that the BJP-led government take serious cognizance of the Justice Shah Commission report and ensure that illegal mining is stopped in Goa.

Speaking to GoaChronicle.com via a telephonic conversation from New Delhu, Javed Raza, national general secretary, JD (U), “We have always spoken against illegal mining. Even during the time when the youth activist Nilesh Gaonkar was attacked. We stood by the people of Goa. Therefore, we demand that the government stop this illegal mining and also take to task the culprits responsible for the plunder of the state’s natural resources.”

Raza, further added that the JD(U) unit in Goa, will raise the issue with the current government and continue to impress upon them to take serious the recommendations of the report and ensure illegal mining is stopped in Goa.
