Ranchi, Mar 11 (GCCurrentAffairs) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) supremo and former Chief Minister Shibu Soren today filed his nomination for the election to one of the two Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand.
Accompanied by his son and current Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and many other cabinet ministers of JMM and Congress legislators, Shibu Soren filed his nomination paper in one set and handed them over to the Vidhan Secretary Sabha Mahendra Prasad.
At least 10 MLAs of JMM have signed as proposers in the nomination paper.
Hemant Soren, later, commenting on the turbulent political situation in Madhya Pradesh, said that dual identity of the BJP was exposed in that state, however, it was not possible to replicate the same tactics in Jharkhand.
He said Shibu Soren was all set to be elected to the Upper House and the coalition was also eyeing the second seat from the state and soon the candidate for the second seat would be announced.
Taking a swipe at the BJP, he said that whether the party would field candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections from Jharkhand was still not clear.
JPCC chief and Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon claimed that the candidates of Mahagathbandhan will emerge victorious on both the seats of the state.
Shibu Soren was also elected to the upper house of Parliament in 1998 and 2002.
