Jose Philip Draws Flak
Vasco Police on Wednesday booked cases against Revenue Minister Jose Philip D’Souza and former Tourism Minister Micky Pacheco following the ugly incident of Tuesday evening wherein the former is accused of manhandling and assaulting the latter.
Incidentally although neither Jose Philip nor Micky filed any complaint with the police, their supporters lodged the complaints based on which the cases have been booked. While Jose Philip has been booked for rioting and disturbing the peace, Micky has been booked for distributing money. All the cases registered are bailable offences.
Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party leaders including co-ordinator for Goa Dr. Prafulla Hede heard both the MLAs over the incident. While Micky is reported to have accused Jose Philip of assaulting him, Jose Philip reportedly told his party colleagues that he pushed Micky to save him from his irate supporters.
After hearing both the versions, the NCP leadership has decided to submit a report to party high command and ask them to decide on the appropriate course of action.
Local politicians from Mormugao have flayed the Tuesday incident and Revenue Minister Jose Philip drew flak from everybody for his role which they were unanimous, was unbecoming of leave alone a minister but also an elected representative.
Former Deputy Speaker Simon D’Souza and former Minister Dr. Wilfred Mesquita condemned Jose Philip’s behavior stating that he has brought disgrace to the high office of a minister by behaving like a roadside hooligan.
Ex-MLA and BJP Spokesperson Rajendra Arlekar while asserting that Jose Philip has permitted hooliganism to reign in Vasco urged the electorate to draw lessons from Tuesday’s incident and vote for people with dignity and integrity.
