UP-based journalist Rakesh Singh Nirbhik dies in a mysterious fire

Lucknow: Two people, including a journalist, were killed when the flat they were living in caught fire under suspicious circumstances in the rural Kotwali area here, police sources said on Saturday.

As per sources mentioned in the UNI report, a journalist who was working with news daily, Rakesh Singh Nirbhik (38), and his friend Pintu Sahu (35) succumbed to burn injuries after the house they were living in caught fire suspiciously in the Kalwari village, late Friday night.

The journalist used to live with his family in the house that caught the inferno. Pintu Sahu was charred to death at night itself while the critically burnt journalist was referred to Lucknow where he died while receiving treatment.

Upon receiving information, District Magistrate Karuna Karunesh, Superintendent of Police (SP) Devranjan Verma and several other senior officials reached and inspected the spot.

The SP said that two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the suspicious fire. The forensic team has also been roped in for investigation into the matter.
