Yadgir: Due to heavy rain in the catchment area of river Krishna in Karnataka and Maharashtra large quantum of water was discharged from Basava Sagar reservoir at Narayanpur in Hunasagi taluk of Yadgir district to Krishna river on Friday morning after the reservoir received heavy inflow from Almatti dam in Bagalkot district.
According to information provided by the officials of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd ( KBJNL ) 51,843.78 cusecs of water was discharged on Friday morning, while 44,077 .67 cusecs amount of water flowed into the reservoir. The present water level in the reservoir stood at 491.36 mt against 492. 25 mt, the source said.
Meanwhile, the KBJNL source also said that 43,960 cusecs of water was discharged from Almatti, Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir build across the Krishna river near Bagalkot district to the river on Friday morning and the reservoir stood 517.69 mt against its full reservoir level 519.60 mt. The dam received 45,534 cusecs of water from upwards, the source added .
