Karnataka storms into Semi-finals defeating Rajasthan by 6 wickets

Bengaluru, Jan 18 (GCSports) Eight times champions Karnataka stormed into the Semifinals of the Ranji Trophy defeating Rajasthan by 6 wickets just before Launch on the fourth day of the quarterfinal match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Friday.

Skipper Manish Pandey struck a belligerent 87 not out off just 75 balls and Karun Nair (61 not out) who steered the home team into the last four stage with an unfinished 128 run partnership for the fifth wicket.

On the day four Karnataka (45/3 overnight) needed 139 runs to win. Manish Pandey entered the fray and punished Rajasthan bowlers with sparkling shots. The captain took little time to settle down and his a superb knock hastened Karnataka’s win as the hosts surpassed the winning target of 184 with much ease. Karun dutifully held fort at the other end to remain unbeaten.

Now Karnataka will clash with the winner of another quarterfinal between Uttar Pradesh and Saurashtra.

While Pandey stole the show on the fourth day, it is Vinay Kumar’s 83 run knock in the first ininngs brought him the Man of the Match award.

Karnataka: 263 and 185/4 (Manish Pandey 87 not out, Karun Nair 61 not out).
