Main accused of Kathua gang-rape case Vishal Jangotra was B.Sc. Agriculture first year student of Akansha Degree college affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh(CCS) University here and some university officials tried to save Vishal by showing that he was giving examination when incident occurred.
In initial investigations, Special Investigative Team (SIT) of Jammu Kashmir police found that some university officials tried to save main accused Vishal and showed that he was giving examination in university at the time of incident. SIT has seized attendance register and footage of CCTV cameras.
Police sources said that SIT has claimed in charge-sheet filed in court that some Meerut University officials were involved in that, so team will interrogate university employees in same reference.
University sources said that superintendent of University office Chandra Prakash, Kaviraj and Subhash Chandra Piplani were major suspects and they were absconding these days. All three were accused of examination copies changing scam in MBBS examinations.
Main accused Jangotra, son of Sanjhiram native of Kathua in Rasna Hiskar area of Jammu, was arrested from Meerapur town of Mujaffarnagar district. SIT has found that other student gave examination at the place of Vishal who was in Jammu at that time.
Vishal’s signature at attendance registered did not match with his actual signature in forensic lab.
Investigations revealed that the person who gave examination at the place of Vishal was jailed for exchanging the copies in MBBS examinations. Chairman of Akansha college and some Meerut university officials were at the radar of Jammu SIT.
