Kerala CM to reach out to Non-Resident Keralites to raise funds to ‘Rebuild’ state

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 31 (UNI) Cabinet on Friday decided to seek financial aid from overseas through non-resident Keralites for rebuilding Kerala in view of devastating rain and floods in the state.

Briefing about Cabinet decisions, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the service of Loka Kerala Sabha too will be roped in for the purpose.

A special team comprising a Minister and officials will be constituted in this regard, he added.

The aim is to visit UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Germany, USA and Canada to mobilise funds from NRKs, he added.

The government has also decided to look for more funds from major cities in India with the help of non-resident Keralites, and a special delegation will be formed for this purpose too.

Ministers and officials are also assigned to collect financial aid from selected regional centres in each district. The fund collection drive to rebuild Kerala will be held from Septemeber 10-15 in districts.
