The Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has extend support to the people of Kerala, as the state is witnessing one of its worst monsoon-related floods in 100 years.
The President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has instructed the formation of a national emergency committee to provide relief assistance to people affected by flash floods in Kerala.
According to Sheikh Khalifa’s instructions, the committee will be chaired by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), and include representatives from the UAE’s humanitarian organisations.
The committee will also be seeking help from the dignitaries of the Indian resident community.
In a series of tweets, Sheikh Mohammed said, “The state of Kerala in India is currently witnessing huge floods, the most devastating in a century. Hundreds have been killed, hundreds of thousands have been displaced. Ahead of Eid Al Adha, do not forget to extend a helping hand to our brothers in India.”
