Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan condoled the demise of renowned Malayalam poet and Jnanpith laureate Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri who died at a hospital in Thrissur on Thursday.
In a message, the Governor said, “The passing of Mahakavi Akkitham is a great loss for Indian literature and Malayalam poetry. With roots firm on Indian thought, he played a role in bringing modern sensibility to the Malayalam poetry.”
“Akkitham represented the loftiest ideals of poetic tradition, with utmost respect for Indian values and tradition deeply reflecting in his poems. My condolence”, the Governor added.
The Chief Minister, in a message, expressed deep sorrow over the death of legendary poet Akkitham and opined that he was a wonderful human being and an embodiment of generosity.
