Kings XI Punjab appoints Ryan Harris as bowling coach for IPL 2019

New Delhi, Dec 5 (GCSports) Kings XI Punjab has roped in former Australian pacer Ryan Harris as their bowling coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday.

He replaced Venkatesh Prasad, who took over the role before the start of the previous season.

After a poor IPL season is 2018, the Punjab-based franchise has decided to make wholesome of changes in their coaching staff.

Apart from Harris, KXIP also roped in New Zealand’s Craig McMillan (fielding coach), Brett Harrop (physio), Sridharan Sriram (batting coach) and Prasanna Raman (high-performance coach).

Mike Hesson had already been confirmed as the head coach of the team earlier.

“Having quality coaches like Harris and McMillan will be a great asset to the team. They have both performed as players on the big stage and have made the transition into quality coaches. They will be excellent additions to the coaching team,” coach Hesson said on the new appointments.

Ahead of the 2019 season, KXIP have also released 11 players (9 Indians, 2 overseas) from their contracts.

They were also involved in the pre-auction transfer season and traded Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for Indian batsman, Mandeep Singh, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The auction for IPL 2019 is slated to take place on December 18 in Jaipur.
