Mumbai: Heavy rains are likely between June 9-12 in the Konkan districts as well as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, warned the India Meteorological Department on Monday.
Taking note of the forecast, CM Uddhav Thackeray held an urgent review meet to gauge preparedness of the disaster management system.
The meet was attended by Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and other bureaucrats, BMC chief I S Chahal, and high-level officials of the concerned districts.
The CM instructed officials to evacuate the ‘dangerous’ buildings, affected areas and the citizens of low-lying area as per the need.
He asked them to ensure that no other form of patient care, including Covid, is disrupted during this period.
The NDRF and SDRF units should be deployed where necessary during heavy rains and other central agencies, including ONGC, should be alerted about the heavy rains, he told officials.
