The Kadamba Transport Corporation despite running at heavy losses, has decided to take on the challenge thrown by private bus operators to manage their buses. KTC Chairman Deepak Dhavlikar disclosed that the KTC will manage five private buses from 1st May to not only break the private bus operators’ hegemony but also beef up its revenue.
Irked by the frequent threats by private bus operators to go off the roads and the inconvenience caused to public when they go on strike, the KTC has taken this decision said Dhavlikar.
Only the buses will taken by KTC which will manage them with its own staff.
Dhavlikar said many private buses had approached them to take over their routes and while from 1st May five such routes will be taken over, depending upon the outcome another 20 buses will be added from 15th May.
He expressed confidence that the KTC will be able to disprove private bus owners grouse that they are running at a loss and at the same time increase its revenue.
