Last Hurdle For CBI Probe In Drug Cases Removed

The last hurdle for the Central Bureau of Investigations taking up the Goa Police-drug dealer nexus investigations has been removed with the Directorate of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issuing the required notification permitting the agency to take up the investigations.
As the CBI-Goa has now been authorized to investigate the matters, the cases that rocked Goa for the last couple of years, will now be investigated by the Central agency.

The investigation in drug dealer and Goa Police nexus were referred to the CBI after National Students Union of India moved the Bombay High Court at Goa over the matter arguing that since police personnel were involved, Goa Police would not investigate the cases properly.
The CBI has been asked to investigate three cases wherein eight police personnel were found to be having links with drug dealers Yaniv Benaim alias Atala and David Driham alias Dudu.
