Law Dept’s Nod For Notices to Casinos
The Law Department has reportedly given it clearance to the government to issue notices to the off shore casinos operating with the valid permissions and licenses and the same has been intimated to the River Navigation as well as Home Departments.
It may be recalled that the government had sought the Law Department’s opinion over this issue as the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court is presently hearing one case pertaining to the government policy on off shore casinos.
The Law Department, taking cognizance of the matter pending in the court, has reportedly opined that it the notice should be to stop operations given the fact that they are operating without the mandatory trade licence and some do not have registration certificates.
