Legendary ‘James Bond’ Sean Connery no more

London: Popular Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery passed away on Saturday, at the ripe age of 90.

Though Sir Sean starred in several blockbuster films, he is best remembered for portraying the stylish detective James Bond to perfection. He was the first to bring the role to the big screen and starred in seven films of the spy thriller franchise.

His incredibly successful acting career spanned several decades and he won almost all the top awards in cinema, including an Oscar, two Bafta awards, and three Golden Globes.

Some of his other memorable films include ‘The Hunt for Red October’, ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, ‘The Man who would be King’ and ‘The Rock’.

Connery was largely regarded as being the best actor to have played 007, his popularity reflecting in such polls.

Connery won the Oscar in the best supporting actor category in 1988, for his role as an Irish cop in ‘The Untouchables’.
