Goa’s first exclusive showroom of linen fabric was inaugurated on Sunday at Panjim. Set up by Jay Shree Textiles, a unit of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd., the showroom is expected to attract a large number of European tourists.
According to Abhey Nair, Senior Vice President, Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd., the showroom with its exclusive linen fabric is bound to attract the foreign tourists as the prices here will be nearly one tenth the cost of the same fabric in their country.
Keeping in mind that the showroom is in Goa, a coastal state that attracts tourists on the strength of its beaches, a special beach wear section has been set up. Short tops and other clothes suitable for the humid climate of Goa will be stitched specially at this showroom.
Linen is an extremely popular fabric all over the world as it “breathes” thereby making the person wearing it feel cool and comfortable.
The raw material for this fabric is grown on the border of France and Belgium and linen has a very long life as it was the fabric used to wrap the Egyptian mummies in the bygone era.
