Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 26 (GCCurrentAffairs) Mumbai police has issued a lookout notice against the elder son of CPI (M) Kerala Unit Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in connection with a rape case filed by a Bihari woman who claimed that she has a child from that relation.
The Mumbai police issued the lookout notice when the Dindoshi branch of Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court is scheduled to hear an anticipatory bail plea filed by Binoy Kodiyeri, on Thursday, sources said here on Wednesday.
The lookout notice was issued only to prevent Binoy Kodiyeri from leaving the country, sources added.
Though a team of Mumbai Police visited his native place, Thiruvangad, in Kannur to nab him, they could not trace Binoy who is absconding after the filing of case by the woman.
The police team also issued a notice asking him to appear before them within 72 hours for interrogation.
In her complaint, the 33-year-old woman alleged that she was cheated by Binoy after promising her to marry. The woman also demanded a DNA test on Binoy to prove the relation.
Earlier, Binoy claimed that the allegation was baseless and she had demanded Rs 5 crore compensation as part of blackmailing to get money from him.
According to an official in Oshiwara police station in Mumbai, Binoy, who was married in 2008 had acquainted with the woman, a bar dancer, during his stay in Dubai.
Later, she quit her job as requested by him and shifted to Andheri in Mumbai where he rented a house in 2010. Later, she became pregnant due to physicial relationship.
After coming to know that he is a married man, she distanced herself from him.
Meanwhile, Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had said he or his party is not responsible for the omissions and commissions committed by his family.
He said he or his party will not take a stance to protect his son and it is the responsibility of his son prove his innocence in this regard.
“As Binoy is an adult, I do not interfere in his personal life. The party can’t take the responsibility of any mistake committed by the family. This was also explained by party General Secretary Sitaram Yechury,” he added.
As the matter is in the court, let the things move legally, he added.
Stating that he was not known whether his son was absconding, he said he did not contact his son over phone after he came to know the allegation.
Reacting to media reports that he offered to resign in the backdrop of sexual allegation against his son, he said “the party will take action if I am wrong.”
There were reports that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at party headquarters, AKG Centre, a few days ago.
There were reports that the party secretary’s wife Ms Vinodini Balakrishnan had also visited Mumbai and tried for an out of court settlement, but it did not materialize.
