LS Election: Rahul Gandhi to kick start Election campaign in Karnataka from Haveri on Mar 8 to woo the voters of North Karnataka

Bengaluru, Mar 8(GCCurrentAffairs) All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi will kick start party’s election campaign on March 8 from Haveri in North Karnataka for Lok Sabha election for which dates are expected to be announced by the Chief Election Commission shortly.

Ruling Congress-JDS coalition partners in Karnataka have decided to put up united fight in the General Election to thwart attempts of Bharatiya Janata Party to win more number of seats in the State.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dinesh Gundurao told newsmen on Friday that Mr Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting at Haveri and give a clarion call to voters to prevent the communal BJP party from coming to power at the Centre again and blow poll bugle in Karnataka.

Stating that the party workers, who were very much enthusiastic to hear the party President ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections, he said that senior party leaders including AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal, who is also incharge of party affairs in Karnataka, Former Chief Ministers Siddaramaiah, M Veerappa Moily and several ministers

will also attend the meeting.

According to party sources, the State Congress leaders are expected to hold a meeting with Mr Rahul Gandhi on the issue of seat sharing issue with JDS on the occasion.

State Congress Election Committee Meeting which met here on Thursday has decided not to concede any Lok Sabha seats, which were held by the party in the State to coalition partner. However the JD(S) has staked claim for 10 Lok Sabha seats including that of Kolar, Chikkaballapura and Tumakuru seats, which were currently held by the Congress.

Meanwhile the JD(S) even before the finalisation of the seat sharing formula has announced to contest from Mandya, Shivamogga and Hassan and also announced candidates names.
