Aurangabad: The eight districts of Marathwada region reported 1,290 fresh cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours which is the biggest spike in recent months, the health authorities informed on Thursday.
The region also reported nine more deaths due to coronavirus during the same period.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI shows that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad district was the worst affected as it recorded 532 cases and seven deaths followed by Parbhani which recorded 79 new cases and two deaths, Nanded registered 214 new cases, Jalna recorded 211 cases, Beed registered 110 new cases, Latur registered 72 new cases, Hingoli registered 43 cases and and Osmanabad had 24 cases.
As per official data, 13,659 fresh COVID-19 cases and 54 more deaths were reported across the state of Maharashtra, taking the state’s cumulative tally to 22,52,057 and the death toll to 52,610.
On the other hand, 9,913 patients were discharged during the day across the state, taking the overall number of recoveries to 20,99,207.
There are currently 99,008 active cases in the state that are undergoing treatment.
The recovery rate in the state currently stands at 93.21 per cent and death rate stands at 2.34 percent, sources in the health department said.
