Mah: Police detain students for staging sit-in against CAA, Jamia violence without permission


Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec 18 (IECurrentAffairs) Students belonging to several associations have been detained by police here on Wednesday for allegedly staging a sit-in, in protest of Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) and Jamia violence episode, without taking required permission.

Scores of pupils assembled at the campus of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University affirmatively responding to the agitation call given by a bunch of students organisations.

The NSUI, SFI, AIS, NCP Student Congress, MIM Student Front, Panthers Republican Student Front, Satyashodak Student Organisation, Student Islamic Organisation, Tipu Sultan Sena, Popular Front of India, SDPI called the agitation to register unequivocal dissent against the CAA and the purported police clampdown on agitating students of distinct varsities across India.

The protesting students here accused that the police perpetrated unprovoked violence against their peers who were agitating peacefully and in a democratic manner in other parts of India.

Raising slogans of ‘BJP Murdabad’ and ‘Delhi Police Murdabad’, the pupils on Wednesday staged a sit-in in front of Dr Ambedkar statue.

They substantiated that the central government is trying to divide people in the name of religion by passing such bills.

They demanded that strict action must be taken against those responsible for lathicharge on student.
