Maha govt dissolves Western Mah Devasthan Committee

Kolhapur: Maharashtra government on Thursday dissolved the Western Maharashtra Devasthan Committee while appointing Collector Daulat Desai as its administrator for next one year.

The sudden decision comes as a jolt to the BJP as the Committee was headed by senior party leader Mahesh Jadhav.

The tenures of other five members—Shivaji Jadhav, Vaishali Khirsagar, Rajaram Garud, Rajendra Jadhav and Charudatta Desai—have also ended with immediate effect, apprised State Law and Judiciary Department Secretary Sanjay Deshpande.

Appointed on 16 August, 2017, the Committee had the authority to collect the donations from a total of 3,042 temples in Kolhapur, Sangli and Sindhudurg districts.
