Aurangabad: Covid situation continues to remain grim in the eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra as the region recorded 6,393 fresh Covid cases, the highest single-day spike, and 146 fatalities were also reported in the past 24 hours, according to the health authorities.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad district was the worst-affected, which recorded the highest number with 1,039 cases and 28 deaths, followed by Parbhani with 684 cases and 27 deaths, Latur with 1069 new cases and 24 deaths, Nanded 873 cases and 24 deaths, Osmanabad had 720 cases and 17 deaths, Jalna registered 683 cases and 11 deaths, Beed 1086 cases 8 deaths and Hingoli registered 239 new cases and 7 deaths.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 48,700 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, mounting the total number of infections to 43,43,727.
The state also registered 524 more deaths, taking the death toll to 65,284.
Meanwhile, the highest 71,736 patients were recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 36,01,796.
The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 82.92 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.5 per cent.
At present, there are 6,74,770 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, they added.
It may noted that in view of the rising number of cases, the state government again imposed strict restrictions in the state till May 1 under the initiative of ‘break the chain’, exempting emergency services.
