Mumbai: In the most indolent, insolent and shameless move, the Maharashtra Government has done it again! Right after Arnab Goswami’s relentless exposes on the Maharashtra Government and the Mumbai Police, there is an attempt to go all out to target him.
After dragging Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief, Republic TV Network to a police station for 12 hours using the garb of the Palghar case 4 months go, after letting off those who attacked Arnab in the middle of the night and after filing motivated FIRs against his coverage, their ploy came to an end when the Bombay High Court ruled in favour of Arnab. In June, the Bombay High Court ruled in favour of Arnab in both the Palghar lynching case and the crowds outside the Bandra station during a lockdown.
Now, 56 days after the Maharashtra Government was told by the Bombay High Court that there is ‘prima facie no case’ against Arnab, the Maharashtra Government has decided to hurriedly reopen the Palghar case. Information is, after reporting by Arnab and his team exposed the inaccuracies, inefficiencies and inconsistencies of the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra Government, there was a meeting of top politicians in Mumbai. On 24th August, they decided to rush to the Supreme Court to reopen the case. The agenda seems to be to maliciously prosecute Arnab in the Palghar case.
GoaChronicle.com has learned that the Maharashtra government has chosen to bizarrely appeal an Interim Order of the High Court.
It appears that Arnab’s refusal to bend to the whims and fancies of those in power in Maharashtra, has triggered a grossly spiteful political response with an intention to entangle the senior journalist in a web of police investigations and derail his news coverage.
