Maharashtra Minister Yashomati Thakur sentenced to 3 Months RI in Cop Assault Case

Amravati: A local court sentenced Maharashtra Minister for Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur to three months rigorous imprisonment in a case of assault on policeman and also imposed a fine of Rs 15,500.

The district and sessions judge Urmila Joshi on Thursday convicted three others in the case, including a driver of the Minister and awarded them three months rigorous imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 15,500.

The incident took place in Amravati on March 24, 2012, in the Chunabhatti area under jurisdiction of Rajapeth police station when Thakur, her driver and two workers had beaten up an on-duty policeman who stopped her vehicle on a one-way lane.

The court further said Thakur and the three others will have to undergo additional one-month jail if they fail to pay the fine.
