Thane: An accused, wanted by the Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with the case of dacoity registered with the Fulpur police station, was finally traced and arrested by the city Crime Branch here on Monday.
The UP police were on the lookout of accused Abdul Rehman Shaikh (32. of Nizamabad in Azamgadh district) in connection with the dacoity case.
After registration of a criminal case under sections 395, 412, 325 and also 174(A). the accused was absconding since then.
The UP police had even announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on him, police said.
On a tip off that the accused was somewhere in Thane, the UP police sought the help of the Thane city police. Accordingly, a police team was despatched to Thane.
Acting on a tip off, a joint team of the UP Police and the city police laid a trap near the Thane railway station today, spotted him near autorickshaw stand and arrested him.
He is since being taken to UP by the UP police, it was stated.
