Health Minister Vishwajit Rane agreed to consult Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar and Congress MLA Dayanand Narvekar to finalise the modus operandi for the District Hospital at Mapusa and hoped that the matter can be settled on Wednesday itself.
It may be recalled that both Manohar Parrikar and Dayanand Narvekar have been strongly opposing the proposal to run the Asilo hospital at Mapusa on the PPP module.
Conceding that he is in a dilemma, the Health Minister agreed to even starting the general services first and commencing the super-special services later on. However, he sought co-operation to make it a model hospital for Goa.
Softening his stand on the hospital, Manohar Parrikar said that PPP module for certain facilities could be considered but demanded that the hospital gets operational first as the government is incurring heavy costs in its maintenance without the hospital even functioning.
