MET Confirms Earthquake in Goa

After initially dismissing the locals claim of an earthquake in Sanguem on 6th January this year, the Indian Meteorological Observatory at Goa has now finally admitted that it was indeed an earthquake that occurred that day.
According to K V Singh, in charge of the Indian Meteorological Observatory at Goa, an earthquake measuring 2.2. on the Richter scale was recorded on 6th January about 44 kms away from Goa.

While the first tremors occurred at around 6:40 am the second were felt at around 11:05 am at Uguem, Valkini and Bhati villages in Sanguem taluka.
The earthquake which was initially denied by the Goa office, was confirmed only after the data was analysed by the Indian Meteorological Department officials in Delhi.
