Refuting Micky Pacheco’s allegations of defrauding the public exchequer, Public Works Department Minister Churchill Alemao said that he had no moral right to point finger at him.
Recounting Micky’s unsavoury past, he said the Benaulim MLA has no moral right to point fingers at anybody as he does not have a clean slate himself.
It may be recalled that Micky Pacheco in a complaint to the Crime Branch of Goa Police had asked for a criminal investigations in the functioning of the PWD with reference to a circular issued after Churchill took over the ministry.
Speaking about the circular, he said it was issued in the year 2001 as a policy to ensure better quality roads for the state of Goa. “There is no fraud in this”, he said.
“I openly challenge him to conduct an inquiry because this circular is as per the policy of the government, and not mine”, he said.
He further added: “If the people of Goa tell me to withdraw the circular stating that there is no quality in the work done and go back to the old procedure, I will do that”.
Stating that people have always supported him for the work done, he said: “People have already given me a certificate for my work, I don’t need it from Micky”.
