Micky Refutes Sharad’s Contention

Reacting to his party supremo Sharad Pawar’s statement that his induction in the cabinet is on hold because of his conviction in a case of assault on government servant, Nationalist Congress Party legislator Micky Pacheco retorted that one fourth of the Digambar Kamat government’s ministers are convicts and yet enjoy ministerial positions.
He said that PWD Minister Churchill Alemao, his brother and Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao and Education Minister Babush Monserrate have all been convicted by different courts and yet continue to be ministers.

While pointing  out that he has already appealed against the order of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Micky argued that since there was a stay on the conviction order, it could not be a ground for denying him the ministerial berth.
He admitted that Sharad Pawar had abandoned him by confessing that if his party supremo desired, he would have been inducted in the cabinet immediately after the assembly session was over in March which was before the JMFC’s order convicting him.
