Even as the Central Bureau of Investigation is conducting its enquiry into Benaulim MLA Micky Pacheco’s alleged involvement in emigration scam by interrogating his aides and ex-aides, Micky himself has moved the court to seek permission to travel to the national capital for “political work”.
The CBI after interrogating Micky’s estranged wife Sara for the second time on Wednesday has now called his former PA Calvert Gonsalves for questioning to find out more details of the functioning of Manpower Recruitment Agency, a firm started by Sara and jointly operated by her and Micky.
CBI officials are also learnt to have checked the records at the Passport Office to verify the documents of the persons sent overseas by the company even as its efforts to trace Pedro Antonio Joanes and Daniel Raymond Fernandes who were reportedly enabled to travel to the United States as cabin crew in 2007-2008 with forged documents did not bear fruit.
Meanwhile, Micky has approached the Sessions Court, Margao seeking permission to travel to New Delhi for 10 days for “political work”. The application was moved as the court has granted conditional bail to Micky asking him not to leave the state without the court’s permission.
