Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar said that Micky Pacheco will have to wait to be inducted in the State cabinet as he has a court conviction against him. As a result, Jose Philip D’Souza and Nilkanth Halarnkar will continue to ministers.
Both the ministers had submitted their resignations as minister to Sharad following a sustained pressure on them do so in order to pave way for Micky to be inducted in the Cabinet. Micky was to be sworn in as a minister after the budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly that concluded in March.
In the interim period the Judicial Magistrate First Class at Margao convicted Micky of assaulting a government servant and sentenced him to one year’s simple imprisonment.
While Micky did not attend the Sharad Pawar called NCP’s State committee meeting arguing that there was no point in being present, Nilkanth could not attend it as he was out of station.
