At a high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava, it was decided to act stringently against mining firms indulging or abetting illegal activities including cancellation of their permits. While such firms will be given a warning first, repetition of the transgression will result in cancellation of permits.
It was pointed out that despite several warnings, illegalities and particularly overloading of trucks, continued unabated and hence it was decided to act very strictly on this matter.
The Transport Department and Police personnel have been asked to strictly monitor all mining activities including transportation so that action can be taken against the violators.
The Department of Mines and Geology has already directed all mining firms to register the trucks used by them to transport ore and rejects with them.
