Panjim: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the state government would auction mining leases at the earliest and also float a mining corporation soon.
Speaking to reporters, he said the state government had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mineral Exploration Corporation of India which would help explore ore deposits and mining leases in the state, and after that auctioning of leases would be expedited.
“The Mining Corporation Bill will be passed in the state Assembly in the upcoming session. Once the mining corporation is formed, its rules will be formed on a fast-track basis. Some of the leases in the state will be auctioned through the corporation,” the Chief Minister said.
Dr. Sawant said the auctioning of the leases would be taken up after exploration of mining tracts to be done by the Mineral Exploration Corporation of India.
The Mining Exploration Corporation would help the government examine the deposits in every mining lease.
