The State Mining Department has initiated an inquiry into the Cuddegal incident wherein three persons have been feared dead and several others trapped.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, who visited the site after Revolution Day function in Panjim, said that the department has initiated an inquiry and it will submit the factual report soon.
The rescuers have intensified their search operation as the actual number of victims trapped under the debris is not known.
It may be recalled that the incident happened at the beneficiation plant of the mine owned by the company Greater Ferromet, a sister concern for Fomento Sociedade at 8.30 p.m. on Friday.
Director General of Mines Safety Satish Suri informed that they are monitoring the events in Goa. “At present, rescue operation is going. We will initiate inquiry into the incident only after rescue work is over,” he said adding that the first priority is to get out people who are trapped inside.
