An eleven-year-old minor was raped at South Goa’s Colva beach, Tuesday night.
As per the complaint filed with Colva police, the victim was waiting at a bus stand in Margao with her elder sister, who is also a minor, where they met the accused and started talking to him. He lured both the minor sisters for a stroll on Colva beach.
The victim told the police that her elder sister went with her friend for some time when the accused dragged her to nearby bushes on the beach and raped her.
The police have refused to name the accused, who is in his twenties, as he is on the run after the incident.
The issue has been taken up by Bailancho Ekvott, a South Goa based women’s organization.
President Auda Viegas said the incident is shameful. “Women are not safe in Goa. There should be more vigilance on the beach stretches during late hours,” she said.
