MLAs cannot be blamed if forms of Govt Schemes signed without proper verification: CM

In a reply that further raises serious questions on whether forms of government schemes should be distributed by MLAs of their constituencies, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar categorically stated that MLAs could not be blamed if there are errors sometimes on the forms of government schemes or dubious names, because it is not possible for a MLA to check every detail of the applicant.

This issue was raised during the Question Hour by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on the Dayanand Security Scheme (DSS) question the various cases of dubious names that have enrolled for this scheme.

The Minister of Social Welfare Mahadev Naik said that besides the dubious claims and names which have been found out, there also exists many doubtful cases which are currently being investigated. Most cases happen to be in the Salcete Taluka. He also requested the MLAs to be a little careful to verify the data of the applicants and not sign the forms leisurely. To which Parrikar stated that MLAs have to sign many forms and one cannot expect the MLAs to verify all the data.

Parrikar assured the House that a monitoring mechanisms will be started by the government to ensure that there is no dubious claims.
