As the Margao Municipal Council has cleared the commercial cum residential project proposed on the Costa grounds at Aquem, locals led by Damodar Korgaonkar who rocked the Municipal Elections have threatened to go on a hunger strike.
Chief Officer of Margao Municipal Council Prasanna Acharya confirmed that the project was cleared as it was in conformity with the existing construction laws and rules.
However, ever since the South Goa Planning and Development Authority cleared the project, locals led by the Damodar Korgaonkar have been demanding that the project be scrapped.
In fact they even called on Chief Minister Digambar Kamat who is the local MLA to demand that the ground be maintained as open space and suggested that the government acquire the land if necessary.
